Safety When Working on or near Electrical Installations (EuP)

Online E-Learning Course
DIN VDE 0105-100, ed. 2023 - Language:

Electrical systems can pose a major hazard to people working on them. For this reason, there are various regulations that restrict the handling of electrical systems to a trained group of people. This group of people is known as electrically instructed persons (EuP for short).

The aim of this online training course is to train you to become an electrically instructed person in accordance with these regulations and to provide you with all the theoretical knowledge you need to complete this instruction.

Our course guides you through the various topics in a structured manner and supports the transfer of knowledge with images, sound and video. The final knowledge assessment is carried out via interactive tests.

Knowledge of electrical hazards and safe working methods is imparted, and legal principles are explained in more detail. Finally, the special features of first aid in the event of electrical accidents are also discussed. References to working practice are made throughout the course to convey the course content as clearly as possible.

This course fulfils the content requirements of DIN VDE 0105-100 and DGUV Regulation 3 for the theoretical part of the training to become an electrically instructed person. This instruction also fulfils the requirements of the annual safety instruction for electricians in accordance with DGUV Regulation 1.

This instruction does not release you from the employer's duty to provide activity-related instruction.

Clips from the course

Course certificate

The course ends with a multiple choice test which must be passed with a minimum of 80% correct answers. Once the test is passed, a course certificate is automatically sent by email.

Course certificates are issued in English and German - in A4 and credit card formats.

The course certificates will be sent to the e-mail address provided for the course participant and, if provided, to the company / course administrator.

Course reminders

If the course participator has not completed the course with 14 days left to go, a reminder will automatically be sent to the participant. If the course is still not completed with 7 days to go, another reminder will be sent.

Annual reminders

If it is almost a year since the course completed, and the course participator has not been re-enrolled, an annual reminder will be sent that it may be time to renew the course. The reminder will be sent to the customer-/course administrator or to the course participator if no customer administrator is registered.

Legal Background

The German authorities for safety and European standards require that employees must be trained in the work to be carried out so that it can be carried out safely and healthily and no unforeseen incidents occur.

Anyone working on or near live electrical equipment must be specifically trained in correct safety behaviour, regardless of whether the work is electrical or non-electrical. The training requirement applies to both electricians and other persons who will be carrying out the work.

The authorities do not specify any further formal requirements regarding the scope and quality of the training, but do state that the training was not sufficient in the event of an accident. If an accident occurs, it will be virtually impossible to argue that the training was sufficient. In other words, there will be grounds for the company to establish liability. In this regard, the company will be in the best position if it can prove that it provided the training. The easiest way to obtain proof of training is to have a professional provider conduct the training for employees.

ON-TRA's electrical safety experts guarantee that the training in ON-TRA's courses meets the requirements for working in Germany and that the safety training is of a professionally documented high standard.

However, as a starting point, the training requirement is initially considered to be fulfilled if the training takes place at least once a year.

Additional Instruction

The employer should supplement this with specific instructions on the actual work to be carried out. Depending on the complexity of the installation, the work and the hazardous nature of the work, more frequent training may be required.
